The Control Panels are under the Apple in the upper left corner of the screen

You will need to get into 4 Control Panels; TCP/IP, Remote Access (or PPP in some older versions), Modems and Internet

First open TCP/IP. Make the changes and close it with the box in the upper left corner and save it when asked.

Under the Control Panel again.. open remote Access (sometimes listed as PPP)

Under "Options" choose the Redial tab and set as below

Open the Connection tab make changes if required

Open the Protocol Tab and make any required changes. OK to save and then close Remote Access (PPP) with the box in the upper left cornner and save when asked

Open the Modem control panel and make any changes needed (most of the time it will be the Apple Internal Modem) if you have an External modem. Choose it from the pull down list and close with the box in the upper left corner and save when asked.

Open the Internet Control Panel and choose the "Personal" tab

The choose the E-mail tab

Choose the Web Tab.. Change to whatever start page and search page you wish

Then choose the News tab. Close with the box in the upper left corner and save when asked.
